A while back I mentioned doing
check-points and controls for car rallys is a good way of getting out and visiting
places you probably wouldn't normally go.
Other ways we've been doing lately is 'Volunteer
Camp Hosts' for National parks. This involves camping at pre-allocated
camp areas at heavy times (Christmas &
Easter) and helping and giving advise to campers. We just spent a week at the
Bournda National Park (just south of
Tathra NSW) and a week and Bittngabee Bay in the Ben Boyd just south of Eden. Apart from
free camping and entry for the period, you also get to meet a lot of people, get given heaps of fresh fish from the campers, and see a lot of pristine areas you probably wouldn't know existed !!
Another way is '
house sitting'......but in this case a whole TOWN. Yup, we're off to
Milparinka (Just south of Tiboburra) for a 2 week stint volunteering to be town ambassadors and hosts. From about March 10- so if your in the area- call in for a cuppa.
See ya
