After advice about dual batteries for TD 100 landcruiser. ARB dual battery setup comes with a 55 amp hour battery only (GNB ED4). ARB tells me there is no room for a larger capacity battery. I dont think this will run the engel and camplight for much more than a day. What alternatives are there without spending megabucks?
Thanks

I had an ARB dual battery put in my LC100 V8 in May and it has an 80 amp hour battery. Its not the TD obviously, but I thought there was as much room under the bonnet as the V8.

Evvo,
You haven't said whether you have three batteries in your dual system or have split the original two. I split the dual "parallel" battereries up in my new TD100 and used the surepower smart solenoid I kept from my old '98 100 series. It worked fine in the old one and works great in the new one too. The 1hd-fte starts fine from one battery as it has no glow plugs and a lower compression ratio that the 1hz. It does have an intake air heater for really cold starts. I did all my dual battery stuff using the original vehicle harness and only had to solder a wire into the harness for a voltage to trigger the smart solenoid when key is in the start position. I have two 700cca Yuasa Overlanders and have used these for about the last six years, get about three years out of them.

Jason, ARB unit is actually a 3rd battery. Both ARB and toyota dealer told me that toyota would not cover warranty if the original dual battery was split. I understand the problem is lack of space on the rear off drivers side of the engine bay for a larger battey.

I have a Piranha setup in my LC100TD. They left the original two batteries untouched and added the third on the passenger side. This involved moving a few Toyota bits (including the fuel filter) but the whole job was done very professionally.
The added battery in my case is an Exide Deep Cycle 65Ah.
