So I've got 3 weeks off in April and the wife and I are stuck for ideas of where to go. Anyone know of any festivals on or anything slightly strange and quirky going on during that time?

Gday
There is one festival that is on every Easter that seems to be a bit quirky, It involves mythical stories that lots of people seem to believe. Now i await the tirade of abuse for making light of others beliefs.

No abuse here but I eagerly await to see your credentials in biblical studies. I'd hazard a guess you're talking through your Akubra.

Gday Bazooka
One dose not need credentials in biblical studies to know the background of the Easter story . As said before , i was brought up a Baptist, but I have put that all to one side for the moment. If you need to talk to me , you know how to find me.

Hi gordon_adel,
Would help a bit if we know where you are.
3 weeks, you can cover a lot of miles in that time or you make your self very comfy in one spot.

G'day Muz,
LOL, Born & raised a catholic, and I can see the funny side of it :)

Ahh yes a bit more info would certainly help :)

We're in adelaide. Hence 'adel' is for adelaide, not my wife's name.

We'll be tenting it, as I'm not much into caravans yet. We have to meet up with another couple in the flinders ranges for 3 days then we're off to wherever...

Ok, The Flinders, You'll love it.
We spent a short amount of time there last year after the National Gathering at Silverton.
Here is part of our trip report, Day 6/14, Silverton to Wilmington of our 6600km trip in 30 days.
There is so much to see in the Flinders, wish we had a good month to really appreciate them.
When in Hawker, stay at the Hawker Big4, they do have cabins available if you need them. Also, for any vehicle repairs, see Chris at the Repco store, a top bloke.
Of cause Wilpena Pound is worth the time to explore, as is Yourambulla Caves, just south of Hawker.
If you head north to Leigh Creek and beyond you will enjoy Farina, there is a camping ground near by.
Sorry don't know of any festivals that are on around that area.

Hey Muz,
Mark & Keryl have little Nathan.
:)

There is the Easter fest in Toowoomba on Easter Monday.
The biggest drug and alcohol free party in Australia. Not to sure if that would be any good.

Thanks for all these replies. I'm afraid I should have explained more. We've done the north a few times so we're thinking of something else. We're only going to the flinders because the people we're meeting have never been there. After that we are all going our seperate ways.

Thinking maybe julia creek, but that may be a bit far for only weeks. They have some festival going on there.

Check out the Shire council websites in the areas you are going, they often list festivals, shows and music events in the area.

Byron Bay BluesFest This year John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival), Crosby, Stills & Nash, Ziggy Marley, lots more. Camping spaces will be at a premium though.
