Interesting thread from Newsgroups..
Follow-up to my post a few weeks ago about probs with 2000 model Nissan
Navara 4wd front
suspension (QD32 - Cab\Chassis). We dont seem to be able to
keep shocks up to the front
suspension.
Saturday morning, the off-sider pulls up to remove wire from under the
vehicle, and discovers the mount that holds the front
suspension (just under
the cab) has cracked right through, and is about to come apart. This is a
cross-member sort of arrangement, that bolts between the front chasssis
rails, and holds the mechanisms to adjust the front torsion bars. The
cross-member has split right in the centre of the bar.
Looking at the cross-member, it is incredibly light for the work this
vehicle is supposedly designed for. The torsion bar mounts on our E2200
Mazda van are about 3 times more robust than this unit, and it isnt even a
4wd!
In one of the replies to my original post, I think it was Dan who mentioned
a front
suspension failure of a mates Navara, and that it needed to be
welded back up. I have no doubt the problem with keeping front shocks
working on the vehicle are related to this cross-member failure.
I have taken pics if anyone is sad enough to want to view evidence of the
poxed design of this rig.
Ahhh
well; its looking like the changeover of this rig is coming a bit
quicker than I originally thought.
I wouldnt reccomend this rig to anyone expecting to do much off-road or
rough road work. Keep
well away from them...
Cheers,
Rod.
