After experiencing a young chap at Toyota who tried to have me believe I was getting a 50% off fix performed on my troopy ( and me doing a bit of investigation to work out it was closer to 15%) (See Speedo and Tranducer inquiry 14/12) I have some kind words to say about someone else at Toyota. I don't yet know who he or she is, but they have decided to fix the truck under full warranty. It's nice to see that they are interested in looking after their customers and it's a shame that there are still individuals out there who see only the short term gain.

Thanks for the assistance and advice.

Regards,
JW

nothing to do with toyota.
we bought a new ford and had it in for its free 1500ks service.
when we picked it up it had a dent in the door from someone elses door.
after arguing the point that i cleaned the car from top to bottom the day before(wich you do when there new) and there was no dent there they said ok we will go you half in getting it fixed.the service guy gave there mr dent bloke a call and told me he could fix it for $60 and that would be $30 each.what he didnt realise is the mr dent guy was a customer of mine and i knew the average price was about $30.what i said to ford was ive got hold of a guy that does dents for about $50 as a guess but might be a little more untill he sees it .but i said if it is any more i will pay the difference so its still only going to cost you $30 is that ok.ford started going on about how they cant gaurentee there work and how they know about there blokes work and how good it is yarda yarda yarda.they had no choice so i got him to fix it for me for nothing got a reciept for $50 and made a $25 profit.
never believe any one who works for a dealer they will screw you over every timeyou reckon your cute

Jemima,
Not everyone at a all dealerships will "screw you beverytime". That is a bit harsh. Afterall not all ducks are the sameare they. People have been screwed by all walks of life. Ever been taken for a ride by a plumber? a whitegoods repair man? lawyer? consultant? there is good and bad in all occupations. Your in business can you honestly tell me in your industry everyone is OK all the time?We have so little time to enjoy our land

I love Toyota they are so funny. Best ones were the quote for over $1100 for a starter motor and $900 for a crown and pinion Total over $2000.
I got a fully recond. starter and brand new crown and pinion from other suppliers and the total $507 and that included delivery on the crown.
So would Toyota try to make money off us , Naaaa No way.

LOL!

My Nissan Dealer tried to do the same when the Intercooler blew on the ZD-30 Patrol. They swore black and blue that I had "Poked a hole in it" after I saw it leaking oil. They would have repaired it for $1598 and no labor charges.

I took it to another dealer who appologised for the problem and swiftly ordered the parts to get the truck working again. When asked how much the component was, they stated that it would have been around the $1500 mark..

My conclusion to this was that they tried to get me to stump up for the work, then would have claimed it under warranty and pocketed the profits.
