Has anyone fitted extractors/headers to a Mazda B2600i or Ford Courier 2600i motor with a big bore exhaust and were there any problems encountered particularly with the 02 (oxygen) sensor attached to the old manifold. Did you notice any increase in the power band? Did the computer need to be recalibrated or dyna tuned?
I'm looking at installing the Lukey extractor with a free flow exhaust and getiing rid of the cat con (live in NZ and we can still do this). Any help with this would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks

In most cases Extractors and a free flowing exhaust will make a difference, it allows a slight increase in revs through the gears and often allows the engine to run cooler (the heat is not held in by the cast iron manifold)

A dyno tune after fitting would be a good idea. Even go to the extent of a before and after dyno, for your own information.

Hi marin,

I fitted extractors to my old '91 model Courier (I think they were Genie) but there was no oxygen sensor to refit. There was, however a plug in the manifold where one COULD be fitted.

It did improve engine performance slightly - revved out a little more freely. I retained the existing cat, mufflers and exhaust pipes.

After fitment, a dyno-tune would e a good move to maximise any improvements. Just make sure plugs, leads, air filter etc. are all up to scratch beforehand.
