Just received this from an associate from Track Care who has had all his 4WD equipment stolen from his Pajero last night....
Bushboy 55 Litre fridge (rare as rocking horse bleep in WA)
- Several random perforations around perimeter of base, similar to very small bullet holes
- A small chip right near the lid handle
- Wear marks on the handles from turnbuckles
- A cable tie on fan power supply lead holding it to the ventilation grille
- Distinct horizontal rub mark on one side and rear of fridge (about 40mm below stainless steel trim)
- Only the main large basket (which had slight rust on the corners where the white coating had worn off). Small basket was not in fridge when stolen
- In general, it is a white powder coated case fridge with stainless steel interior (half height over compressor unit). No exposed cooling components are visible from inside aside from the temperature sensor. As stated.... RARE!
The laptop is an Acer Aspire 370. If it hasn't been reformatted, the biggest giveaway is that the Nokia data suite loads automatically and results in an unusual icon in the lower right hand task bar. Also, the laptop has:
- Mapping software and maps loaded, and Streetsmart in the CD ROM drive
- No floppy drive
- No manual
- No bag
- No power supply
- Windows 98 SE registered to Steve Barbuto of 4WD Developments (to check: Start, Settings, Control Panel, System)
- From memory given the short time I had it, it was a Pentium 133-166 or so, with 64Mb odd of RAM and a 2.2Gb or so hard disk
- Given the laptop was connected to the GPS below, the two items may be offered together.
The Garmin GPS II Plus has the faintest mark on the screen towards the top right corner (viewed horizontally), and contains the North American Database (ie: US model). All setting have been changed to Australia and all waypoints/
routes have been cleared. If offered around, it will probably be accompanied by a non-genuine power/data cable with cigarette lighter connection. The lighter connection has a green light on it, and all connections are gold plated. There is no bag, no manual, and the GPS had 4x Eveready Red "heavy duty" batteries in it when stolen. As stated, the laptop may be packaged together with this as a single item.
The Bushranger Max Air compressor was as new. No distinguishing marks, however it may be offered with a set of Staun tyre deflators (aluminium type) and/or a Dick Smith (DSE) key ring digital tyre pressure gauge which were also stolen. All accessories and documents were in the bag's lid.
Why the losers took the facia off my Alpine radio cassette and left the main unit and 12 disc changer I have no idea. This does indicate they are dumb and may attempt to pass off the goods sooner rather than later.
Please feel free to forward this email around the 4WD network. Whilst replacement gear is good for the retailers, we will all get beat up on insurance if we can't stem the tide.
Many thanks for your time,
Steve Barbuto
