We camped at the Green Lakes last Easter. There are toilets and showers, although mostly cold. We didn't book ahead (I am sure this is not necessary) and it was a matter of order of arrival provided the best sites. We found the area excellent to camp in and enjoyed the walks etc. The cost is very minimal - from memory $5 per site per night. We can recommend.

We have stayed there a couple of times and found it a lovely spot. There are hot showers and flushing toilets, and sites along a nice (man made) lake. A ranger comes around most nights to collect the camping fee, which was $5 last time we were there 12 months ago.

It is a really nice camp site with plenty of spots. If you get there late you will have a site a greater distance from the ablutions block than you lay like, but in that case you get a nice quiet spot.... All good.

Hi every one
Green Hill lake is its correct name. there are no more camping fees only a donation placed in a box at the first toilet block. Council are trying to limit camping in some areas (the beach and further around past the last toilet block which is currently closed) may be opened at Easter pending the number of campers, There are no bookings, its first in best dressed, and earlier the better, it is a great spot so please come and enjoy.

Hi John W, We camped there last year (Easter) and all good. So the friendly chap who called around to collect money doesn't do that anymore? The "New" amenities block is that still closed?

Humpback, Don't camp close to the entrance. Bloody truckies who must use exhaust brake (Jake brake on flat ground!!!!) coming into Ararat are annoying to say the least.

Hi NTVRX

The friendly chap who's name is Max does not collect money put still goes around and talks to every one and keeps an eye on things. He's not a ranger just a Volunteer on the local committee for the lake.

We usually spend our last night at Green Lake before catching the boat home, have been there several times, a great spot.
