Gaz,
With a cast iron
camp oven I just oil it
well, wipe excess oil off and put it in the kitchen oven and crank it up as far as it will go (240c or thereabouts), leave it at that for about twenty minutes, turn the oven off and let it all cool down. You should end up with a nice black glaze to which food will not stick. AFTER COOKING I only wash it out with hot water, I don,t use detergent, dry it and a light oil is all that is necessary ( I use olive but peanut and some of the other oils with a high burn point could even be better).
Cheers, Bundy

Wipe cooking oil all over the inside of the
camp oven, including the underneath of the lid.
Then place on a fire, or over a gas ring and get really hot and this will cure the
camp oven, you may have to do it a couple of time to your satisfaction.
Don't wash the
camp oven once you have been through the above process, just get a rag and wipe it out.
Happy cookin.
Cheers
Baz

Hi Gaz,
Lots of info on this site on how to prepare, use and store your
camp oven. Just type
camp oven into the search box in the top RHS of the
forum page and (after a wait of a few seconds) get access to
forum posts,
blogs, article etc. Its all there.
Cheers ,
Val
