Hi all,
So last week we had a competition to find the best photo of a dog on holiday... This week we're asking you to contribute you best Outback Event photo - and again, there'll be a $25 gift voucher for the winner, and I'll be asking for the winner to email me the original hi-res photo (which will be used by us on a printed flyer - ExplorOz is contributing a $50 gift voucher to all visitors attending the NSW Caravan and Camping Supershow this Easter, which they'll get in the event show bag) and the "Event" pic is part of a collage of photos on one side of the voucher. So submit your photo here in this thread - it could be outback camel races, horse races, music festival, street parade, etc. !

Can't wait to see what you'll contribute this time,
Have fun,
Regards Michelle

More good shots of my second home town (area). Which cattle drive is this one first or second ? Going by the shots I assume first, cause it came in wet on the second as they arrived.

Great shot ....... Dingo, would have loved to have been right there, but, I reckon I would have been packing up the camera bags within seconds of that shot.

What an experience and you would have my vote for originality.

Nice group of photos and the colours and action is terrific. I'll have to keep an eye out for some of these events from now on.

Hi Michelle,

Here's a few outback shots - not traditional events, but events that meant something to our group.

Just to clarify, the defination here of outback events excludes natural phenomena, so just looking for gatherings that would normally be listed in the Events Calendar section of ExplorOz - so shows, festivals, races, etc. Love the aboriginal dancing ones but not sure they're going to sufficiently hi-res to use. Some great animal racing action too - pictures always say a thousands words, so keep them coming, its great to see all your different interpretations. Love the quirky ones particularly.

I took that photo falling backwards as the car was pointing straight at me when I hit the button......

Here are a few more pics, but they would need to be shown in series to get the best effect.

Thanks but you're right, the first pic is the best when can only pic one and use it to say so much in one small collage. Makes you appreciate the pro event photographers - it is very hard capturing all the action in one frame. Thank goodness we all have a try with digital cameras - take 1000, find 5 that are good LOL (well, that's my personal experience anyway, you might have better skills than me).

Robin - is this pic of the finish line of races yours? I only ask because I've seen an almost identical one elsewhere - but I'm sure there's plenty of people holding a camera at the same spot... just let me know please.
thanks Michelle

As you can see, I was a bit slow with the trigger finger and missed the horse that came 1st in this race.

Ok comp is now closed whilst I deliberate over the decision.
We have a public holiday here this weekend so not sure when I'll be ready to announce the winner. Stay tuned and have a great weekend.

It's a tough choice between Graham's Maree Camel Race and Rob's Birdsville Race finish line. I am passing the decision to the graphic designer to choose which pic best works on the flyer as its got to work best with the other pics in the collage.
Well done ladies & gents (by the way, the designer is a pom who has never travelled the aussie outback and he couldn't believe these photos! Thought everyone must be crazy out there!). How funny!

Finally, we have chosen a winner (sorry for the delay!!)...

The winning shot is the Birdsville Races by Navigator 1 - well done Rob, we'll contact you privately to confirm how to claim your voucher.

The decision was tough - because Graham's camel pic was also very good. But the designer decided that it didn't have the vibrancy and excitement of the BVI races image.

Thanks to all that took the time and effort to share their photos of an Australian outback event to this post.

Regards,
Michelle
