Thanks heaps - really appreciate this information as we plan to leave
Port Augusta mid next week heading for
Norseman and beyond. This certainly assists with our planning. Thank you.

We're doing this trip in Aug. Plan is to fill up in Pt Aug, top up in
Ceduna and then get across to
Perth without filling up :). Long range tanks :)

Gossy,
We prefer to do the topup at
Penong - it has a
Caltex that sells a heap of diesel to truckies - price is same or better than
Ceduna.

Yes
Penong is the place to top up with fuel.Has had good prices for many years .Also the caravan park is a great ,tidy & clean park to stay at. Take a trip down to
Point Sinclair &
Cactus Beach while there.

The caravan park at
Penong was a great surprise to us. Knowing the fuel was cheaper, we still used to top up at
Ceduna and have pay showers there, then
camp in the bush. Last time we went on to
Penong (the price different was greater back then than Flix has reported), an unpowered site in the lovely park cost us next to nothing from the fuel saving - coupled with the saving from doing the washing in their then free machines. It was also quieter at the back of the town than in the bush somewhere off the highway.
Gee Gossy - you must have some fuel capacity!

I put 500 litres of diesel into a boat at Hastings and paid $1.65 per litre, took the boat to
Port Welshpool and then paid $1.35 per litre for 500 litres. The mere fact a single proprietor working at a small fishing village could dispense diesel for $1.35 came as a surprise to me. It also says that some people are making a fortune and the system can be improved.

Hi all
This amy be of use to readers that are currently near Byron Bay.
A different location but at Byron Bay this afternoon, I bought diesel for 147.4 c/l which is a very uncommon price around here.
As I went to Byron Bay, I checked at Lennox Head and it was 151.9 c/l as it was at Suffolk Park and good ole Woolworths was 152.9 c/l without the discount.
I purchased the diesel at the independent bowsers attached to the Mitre 10 store. I will try to return there again.
Cheers
DW
