Looking for advice from all you helpfull people , am planning trip to Tassie late Feb,will be staying at powered sites so am looking at the best lighting to use , preferably something that is bright , non fragile ( within limits of course ) and will clip on to the frame of our canvas top camper trailer . Also diesel prices , is it worth the trouble of carrying jerry cans across the Nullabor to help with the high cost of fuel ??

hHi Brian, can't help you with the lighting question, but as for fuel costs on the Nullabor, if your vehicle has the range to get you from Noresman to Ceduna (1210km) then you will save a few bucks. Better still if you have the range from Coolgardie to Port Augusta(1840km) you will save even more. Depending on the fuel price on the day you can save up to 30cents per litre. I carry 270 litres in my tanks & that gets me comfortably from Coolgardie to Port Augusta & thats with a 6.5 Chevy under the bonnet. Cheers Have Wheels Will Travel

if your camper has battery and 12v lights already, may be simpler (and safer) just to use those, and use the 240v power to run a battery charger which can run all night (and day).
Regards,
Brad.

Brian, If you have a dual battery setup then the only way to go is 12v fluoro's. They are much saferwhere there is canvas and water ( like rain ) and the put out fantastic light. Super Cheap have them super cheap but the quality ones will set u back about $80 or so, well worth the $$$.

If you are thinking of jerry cans then pay the extra dollars across the nullarbor, you wont need them anywhere else especially with diesel. Use the room the jerry cans would have taken up to buy more things to take home, IMHO its not worth the hassle.Laterally Literal

I use a 150w worklight ..... I took it off the yellow frame & drilled a hole in the middle of the bracket, then I threaded the spike on the end of a tent pole & mount the light on it with a wing-nut, then occy strap the fully extended pole to one of the awning poles on our camper trailer ......... works great off the genset!

Brian - I crossed the Nullabor in May and again in October. Diesel prices in May were Penong 89.9, Mundrabilla 120.00, Balladonna 122.9 Norseman 93.9. October prices were Norseman 94.1, Mundrabilla 107.0. At Norseman, look for the Ampol roadhouse. Penong is cheaper than Ceduna.
