Happy Hol's to all...what models were the last of the 'pre-electronic' 4wd's, and around what year/s did they change to engine management/efi etc?. Have checked the archives without success. Nothing against progress, modern development and design but just thinking about vehicles which could almost always be got going again- always excepting the occasional catastrophic busted bits/blown motor etc.

Pre 2000 diesel patrols have no electronics as far as i am aware

4.2 diesel patrols, still being manufactured in japan as we speak to suit the rugged Australian conditions, without computer technology.

Sorry Mick but the new Nissan 4.2 TD diesel now has electronic monitoring of the diesel injection pump. I believe it came out when the intercooler was added to the 4.2 turbo.
Guess there are no new diesels without electronics now :(

Still not as complex as a the 3 litre or 4.5 litre petrol, Or new 100 series!

Landrover went electric on the diesels in 1999, petrols donkeys years ago, dunnno about the others
