Hi Parthy,
I had a petrol Jeep and lets just say you don't buy a Jeep for fuel economy.
If the V8 is petrol then I hope you own a fuel refinery, or shares in BP.

Ken may mate is thinking of selling his. He lives in Thailand most of the time these days and it has been just sitting in a locked garage for the last 2 years. He loves it and looks after it like a million dollars. Give him a call. Peter 0408191210. You would not find a better second hand one. He is in
Maroochydore so getting to have a look is easy. He is about 4 kilometers from Sunshine Coast airport. Tell him Carl gave you this info or he will be wondering where you got his number

While Jeep have some interesting features the general resale, economy and reliability of a Jeep is something you should investigate very very thoroughly before losing your money into the brand. Also look into dealer backup issues.
Just my opinion, but I would never touch a Jeep.

In general, diesel Jeep Grands are the better buy. They have Mercedes engines and gearboxes and are generally better made and more reliable. Awesome torque on the engines plus good fuel economy.

another piece of useless triva the diesel ones were built in the same factory that made the mercs and bmw m5 i am not sure about the v8 ones, never did much research on those ones
If i had a source of free fuel i would love to give one of the SRT'S a crack.

The diesel Grands were built in Austria and sold in Europe, South Africa and Australia. The petrol ones were all built in the US. I don't think there are any diesel Grands of that vintage in the US. Any parts I have to get for a service on the motor or gearbox are Mercedes. Same as the ML 270 and the Vito vans.

This engine is also used in the majority of Mercedes-Benz vehicles: C-Class, CLS, E-Class, S-Class, ML-Class, GLK-Class, GL-Class, G-Class, R-Class, the Vito / Viano and the Dodge / Freightliner / Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
That being the OM642 3 litre diesel.

G/Day Ken,....You have mentioned a Figure of up to $26000.00
You could purchase a late V8 4.7L petrol 100s Landcruiser in immaculate condition for those dollars.....Better bet i think.
Cheers Axle.

i would still recommend you try a 3ltr diesel before you make your decision, as you have seen people are quick to bag them but have no real experience with them, i also have a gu 4.2ltr patrol and a dmax, when i was looking around it came down to a grande prado or the jeep the jeep one hands down, the only thing the prado had over it was 7 seats.
