Gentlemen
To set the record straight on the sometimes irksome issue of towing capacities, I offer the following for your consideration. All obtained from the manufacturers specifications, rather than the waffling of armchair experts.
Cruiser .. Rated Capacity ... 3500 kg Towball weight ... N/A
Patrol ... Rated Capacity ... 3500 Kg reduced to a maximum of GVM (3000 kg) with a towball weight of 200 kg.
Defender ... Rated Capacity ... 3500 kg with a Towball weight of 250 kg
Thankyou ..... ;-}Fidei defensor

Ross GVM does not affect towing capasity as that comes under Gross Combined Mass( GCM ) so you only win by ball weight. :) :) :) Regards Bob

As I said cobber ... only reproducing manufacturer's figures.
But on your other note, I always thought there was something a tad strange about my anatomy ... didn't know it was so obvious though.

Bearing in mind most states have laws that over-rule (sorry, bad pun) the manufacturers stated towing capacities. from memory, in WA it says that the weight of the trailer must not be more than 1.5 times the tare of the towing vehicle.
Incidentally, preTD5 Defenders have a rated capacity of 4000kg
Cheers,
Alex.

Spot on. Manufacturers towing capacities make good fiction novels because it's what can be legally towed in your state that matters.

Quite correct, but the allowable tow ball load was somewhat less.Fidei defensor
