I am heading to the Cape this year and have had a real good run with my Hercules A/W but think they may not have enough bite for the conditions. I am thinking about putting on the Hercules M/T's for the trip. Has anybody used these tyres and if so what did you think.

Hi

I have Hercules Alltrax. Basically an AT tyre.
I am very happy with the handling, noise, grip and wear thus far, especially for the price...a real find. I thought of the M/Ts but these looked a little aggressive for my needs...but it was a close call.

Got 225 R16's on my Rodeo , been from Central Qld to Perth and return on them on a mix of rough gravel roads and bitumen . No problems , no noticeable increase in road noise and seemed to handle all types of roads well . Done about 15,000 and no sign of wear yet

I've had two sets of terra trac lt 245 75 16 MT on my Colorado. They've performed well for me. I end up changing them out at approx 45000 kms as I don't rate worn mudders too highly. Cost v mileage = about twice as good as the name brands (I pay $160 fitted for them).
They'll do the job easily enough, and aren't as loud as most mudders - they are more like a luggy all terrain like a cooper ST, and about the same noise level.
Mine have done central oz, desert, gulf, cape etc. no probs.
Like any tyre they'll chip up quick enough if you run them over inflated on graded rock.

Excellent question - Last two sets came from 'tyres cash and carry' at eagle farm, brisbane. Apparently he cannot get any more though. I'm on the prowl.

Thanks for the feedback, I think that with the experiences I have had with the 2 sets of Hercules and what all of you have shared I will give them a go. Now I just need to find the best place to buy them.

C & R,

can you make sure you report back to the forum as to how they went. I (and a lot of others) would be keen to see how they went. I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance and durability of some of the cheaper tyres like Herules and Ironman. Have a safe trip and let us know the results.

Cheers Mick
