I'd bet pounds to peanuts those happy snaps of beautiful people jumping into the creek were not taken in Winter. Not in Mittagong anyway.

But hey if that's your idea of a good time, then why not?

River Island is a lovely spot, our family actually owned the country its on up until the early 70's.
other side of archies island is now the site for Nissan Clubs Son Of Trials event a couple of times each year Febuary and November-
was a bit wet down there afortnight ago and the river was a nice shade of brown with the rain(and thats before last weeks soaking)
havent tried it in the rip but camping isnt too bad as its pretty protected down in the valley.
biggest problem is they dont allow campfires.
