Hi Guys
So we are looking at buying a dual cab ...have seen a couple around 2007/2008 that are around $32000...... New dual cabs, or demos are advertised for only 5 or 6 thousand more...but for ABN holders only. Has anyone been able to get the odds better , and HOW ???
Thanks
Brian

Hi Brian,
I have purchase a couple of new vehicles this way. As long as you can give the dealer an ABN you get the discount, and it is only a matter of jumping online, fill out the form to register for the ABN. You will receive it straight away, very easy to do.

Can you really get an ABN without having a business? Legally, that is.

Cheers

To be entitled to an ABN you must be:

a company registered under corporations law in Australia
a government entity, or

an entity that is carrying on an enterprise in Australia.

A non-resident entity may be entitled to an ABN where:

it is carrying on an enterprise in Australia, or

in the course of carrying on an enterprise, it makes supplies that are connected with Australia.

Your enterprise does not have to be located in Australia.

And further to my earlier reply... If you are a sole trader, as distinct from a Corporation, you need to satisfy the requirements found here.

Also it's amazing how the ATO finds out about these things.

The motor vehicle dealer requires evidence re: your ABN and photo copies the document.

With our plumbing business we have purchased several vehicles over the years and also claim the depreciation re our equipment ect.

There is an ABN register that they can access online. I used it recently to see if mine was still active.
