Not sure about ADR's, but I am pretty sure they have always been a RWC item for tray bodied vehicles.

Demerit points for this - Come on !
I don't mind fines but demerits hurt real bad.
Let's get serious with these guys.
What about a national protest or will apathy rule yet again ?

Apathy will win again.
Mass protests achieve nothing these days, there are that many of them, that they are ignored.

A.D.R. 42/03 clause 15.2 to 15.2.6 refers to the wheel gaurds.
15.2.5 says Notwithstanding the requirements specified above the wheelgaurd including the mudflap (if fitted) need not be less than 230 mm from the ground for other than off road vehicles, or 300 mm in the case of off road vehicles designed for off road operation.
Did you also know that if you hot wire your cigarette lighter it then fails to comply with the A.R.D. As it says that they must only operate when the engine switch is on accessory or the engine on position.
The A.D.R. s make interesting reading.

That's fair enough but if the lighter part is not in the socket then it's not a lighter, is it. I've added two so called lighter sockets with permanent 12 volts but they are only used for powering equipment, not lighting fags.I may be mad but I'm not crazy

I know you're all getting a bit stroppy about demerit points for the mudguards, but - hey, if you're legal and your tyres are covered you're not in any trouble. If your tyres aren't covered then maybe the extra points will convince you to abide by the law/rules. (Everyone else has to). ;-)
And yeah - only in Victoria! The Tax State!

So the fact that I think they are in the flairs, and the cop says they are 1mm outside the BIGGEST flairs you can get..
what do you do then?

As Jarrod states in your other thread on this:
"Tyres and
wheels are to be covered to the outer edge, and from above the axle. That means hanging a piece of string from the edge of the guard, it will not hit the tyre or wheel all the way to the axle"
If the string doesn't touch then you're right - if it does then the police are right and you need narrower tyres or bigger flares (if you can find or make them).
Simple. Although they often seem to be simply money making, rules are rules....

Just run a 2mm bead of silicon around your flare, that should take care of the 1mm overhang and give you 1000 micrometres of safety marginLaterally Literal

Is It only me who hates having stones and garbage thrown at me by clowns driving around with the
wheels hanging out of the guards or driving on jacked up suspensions without fitting mudflaps. I don't care if they destroy their own bodywork but I like
mine the way it is.
If it takes the threat of 3 points to make them fix it, that fine (sic) by me.
regards
A

I never have anything thrown up at me but I do tend to leave a lot of comfort space in front of me. Only one broken windscreen in 30 yrs driving but yeah not nice being plastered with rubbish and other junk.I may be mad but I'm not crazy
