Hello I'm off to Perth from the Gold Coast on March 31 and have booked accommodation along the way as follows.
31st - Goondiwindi
1st - Bourke
2nd - Cockburn (originally via Bourke-Wilcannis road but it looks like I might be going via Cobar. Extra 100 kms but I'll handle that
3rd - Minnipa
4th - Border Village
5th - Norseman
6th Arrive in Perth to stay with rellies.

Nature is throwing up a few roadblocks in the way of floods so I'd like advice.

1 The Kamilaroi is closed between Walgett and Bourke due to a washout. What do you reckon are the chance of that being passable by April 1st. If it isn't what options for a detour do I have?

2 Two days later I travel across the temporary crossing at Pine Creek on the Barrier Hwy just south of Cockburn while they repair the bridge- will I be ahead of the next batch of flood waters? The detour for that is over 300 kms unless someone has a better idea.

I'll be traveling by myself in my '04 3.0L DX Patrol so I have a number of options.

All replies gratefully accepted.
