Hi All
I have a 200 series cruiser and have purchased an ICOM 440. I am looking for ideas on where to place the main unit. I would prefer out of sight if thats a possibility.
Thanks
Pete

Hi Peter
I have that model in a HDJ79 and have the main part under the passengers
seat. You would need to run the cabling under the centre console or alongside the door opening under the carpet.
Cheers

Under the passenger's
seat can be a dangerous spot with a
river crossing gone wrong!

I have a 200 and i fitted the main unit on top of a metal bracing that is behind the drivers knee panel.
Its a good flat area all i did was put 2 cable ties wround it.
I have done it on 4 200 series and had no problems.
No drilling required

If I understand right you mean the soft form on side of center console.
Did you leave the pad on or remove it.
thanks

Scott - I have 200 LC but am unclear on exactly where you refer to when you say "metal bracing behind drivers knee panel".
My reason for making comment is simply to ensure that the fitment of any additional gadgets is not where an air bag is located, one of which is directly in front of drivers knees. Anything in it's path or even to the side nearby of the air bag panel would become a missile should air bag deployment occur. Upon learning this, I moved my Trailer Brake Controller to another area
well clear of air bag deployment path. I was made very aware [by Toyo Dealer] that even an accidental deployment of the air bag would send the brake controller at my knees and lower belly at a rapid speed with horrible consequences.
Perhaps the location you refer to is elsewhere.
Peter - The main box of my GME UHF is located under front passenger
seat.

Another question. When you say that you have the GME under the front passanger
seat. How have you attached it.

If u remove the panel thats above the knees you will see the matal.brace.
Mine is a gxl.it has no knee air bags.
But on top of that brace should not be an issue

Peter,
Put mine under the driver’s
seat. It was very easy to bolt the cradle onto the seats frame.
I took the front off the ash tray and fitted the clip for the remote speaker-microphone to sit on.
