G'day all. We are heading off this Friday for a well earned break. I would like to spend 3 or 4 nights camping and fishing along the Bulloo. My preference is to "bushcamp"between Thargomindah and Quilpie.

Looking at the maps, Toompine area looks good. The Pub there will be a must, but I can't see myself camping behind it.

Somewhere within easy striking distance from the Pub would be perfect. (When free camping we like to spend our saving in the local area)

Suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi Salty, if the roads are open, you travel towards Quilpe from the pub and take the first turn left. Drive about 3 or 4 Ks till you come to a culvert at a creek we turned before the creek and camped about two hundred meters in. There is another spot further along the road but we stopped at the first one.

Hi Salty The last reply was right on it but continue on about 10 klm on this track and you reach the Bulloo river. Cross the causeway and as the track veers to the right you will see a track in the river stones off to the left. this takes you to a good camp site, and flat, about 500 mts down stream. we should be there a week after Easter, say hello to Sue and Greg at the Pub and keep an eye out for our yellow Unimog Regards Noel from Lake Cargelligo
