G'Day

I am trying to work out if I can connect a high gain antenna to an I Phone 4, I already have the antenna (My old telstra handset died)

Anyone out there any ideas on this, or is it a case of picking up an old phone and a patch lead.

Been looking on line and cannot see anything.

Thanks

Yep! I've been using one of these. Seems to give it a bit of a boost. You do have to hard-wire it or stick a 12 volt plug on it.

There is another one, but cannot remember the name. I preferred the SmoothTalker over the other as the SmoothTalker locks the phone in at the top. Also again, I cannot remember if the other one swivelled or not. Mobile Extras have noth though.

Cheers,

I have tried a cradle before and there was zero improvement on my iPhone since there is no external connection to the phone. When I used the same antenna for my camping phone there is a instant result but that phone does have a external connection.

From all the researches I have done I came to the conclusion that the passive type ones are just about useless. This got back about 2 years so maybe things have changed and they have come up with something new.

Give Lisa a call at Kedron Caravans. They have a company that they deal with that specialise in this kind of thing. As you would imagine they have this kind of request for fitting equipment to their caravans. I would imagine if you are interstate they can ship it to you there.

hi 4 runner, i have one in my landcruiser for my iphone 4 and works a treat.. at least 2 bars better then without it, the brand i got it CarComm, you can plug it into a 12v socket or hardwire it in, also you can wire it in through your CD car stereo aswell,

Matty,

Do you have a case on your phone and if so does it fit into the cradle with the case on?

I used the Smooth Talker at a place called Deal Island in the middle of Bass Strait, worked a treat. I had it connected to a marine Next G antenna. Very impressed the coupling vs direct connection worked so well.
