Those tyre pressure monitoring system will be great .i can just picture heading onto the beach drive and adjusting the tyre pressure with the blinkers madly flashing and the horn going off, what a great idea.
I will reserve any further comment on this new patrol untill after RobinM has had a chance to fully appraise it.

I like this comment:

there is about as much of the old Nissan Patrol left in this as there is loyalty in Queen Gillard.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

You have to hide most Jap cars behind a bullbar and driving lights to make them look any good in my opinion. Should be a diesel.

Hi Bazooka

It may not be the nicest looking, but still much better looking than the Cruser.

Here in America the patrol is also sold as a delivery van and with a great engine.

Check out this link.

Why is something like this not sold in Australia? Toyota are the same. The Toyota Tundra is the size of a F250 and would be fantastic for towing caravans but Toyota want t keep sales of the landcruiser going so only release that. The Tundra starts at $24.950 new. Landcruiser is something like $70.000. Imagine being able to get a new 4 door F250 sized truck for just over $30.000. No longer can we say it is because of the dollar.

Australia is getting done over by the car manufacturuers.

I agree, Australia is getting done over by the importers of everything not necessarily the manufacturers, the greedy, profiteering importers are to blame.

I have knowledge of Mazda cars being being sold to mazda dealers by Mazda Australia for less than half the price you pay at a dealership. More than 100% mark up by the dealer.

$38,000 Colorado is sold to dealer for $17,500, room to move here by the Oldhen.

$57,000 Aussie Hilux can be bought in England for the equivalent of $30,000 Ozzi notes.

Shock absorbers made in Germany/Bilstein and shipped to America can be purchased from America and delivered to an Australian address for just over half the Aussie price set by the importer. Cheaper to transport to Australia than America. But more than double the price here.???????

ACCC what do you do????????

In America a patrol wagon is sold as an Infinity QX see link

http://www.infinitiusa.com/buildyourinfiniti/raq/quote/2012/QX

Infinity is the luxury brand for Nissan so this is the most high end Nissan patrol and the price is just $63.000. What does the average patrol cost in Australia.

The 200 series landccruiser is sold as a Lexus LX and is $81.000 in the US. It is also sold as a landcruiser and sold at $77.000. You almost never see they however as there are so many competitors at far cheaper prices.

In my area the most popular car is a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here it is $26.995.

Thanks for the info Carl. We are a small relatively isolated population so they can manipulate us to suit. Contrary to some people's thoughts, being an importer is a pretty slippery slope to negotiate. If there isn't leeway you can be busted very easily. Cheers

You're right about it's looks. It sure would not win any beauty contests.

I wonder if Nissan would have come up with this look, lack of diesel & cream interior if it had listened to potential buyers or loyal Patrol owners?

And the loss of the old style double rear door just seems a step backwards to me. I thought those doors were a wonderful feature.

Its a Middle East LHD model,so it will probably be slightly different to the one sold here, the same as Landcruisers sold here are different to ME versions.

Put a 7.3TTV8CRD sticker on it?

Make it look pretty damn sexy to me.

I don't mind the looks, just struggling to see a market. The cruiser/rover will do all that with diesel economy for about the same price.
