Hello everybody,
Im wondering if it is possible to use PDF format map files in oziexplorer? - I have access to the entire state,(Vic) in both 1:100,000, and 1:25,000. , but as I say, they are all PDF files. Ive had a look through the Archives, no luck, and Ozi doesnt seem to support them. The resolution when you zoom right in is absolutely fantastic on the 1:25k, And Id love to be able to use them with Ozi.

Can they be converted, or imported som how???

Heres hoping,

Jarrod.

Jarrod, You cannot use the pdf files in ozi. You will have to strip the images from the pdf files using ghost script and ghost view or similar. The last time I did this I used a specially written batch file to handle the conversion. The whole process took many hours as there are many hundreds of files. The resulting images files will then need to be calibrated for use in ozi, a very tedious job when there are hundreds of files to calibrate. You will need to enlist help as we did.

I may be mad but I'm not crazy

Jarrod,
those maps sound pretty interesting. Are they commercially available?

Bob, I imagine they probably would be, but at a cost. The 1:100k there are over 600 maps, and 1:25k 1200 maps!!( Not entire state covered in this res.) - only 2 CD's though!

The way I converted from PDF was with the konvertor_pdf. Its a long slow process for a CD's worth.

Its even longer to manually calibrate the resulting images.

Hit me off line, I might be able to save you some time.
