Hi guys, well i just got my renewal from NRMA and i nearly had me a fit at the price. I was wondering if anyone can guide me in the direction of other Insurance places that dont seem to think that 200,000 kms is excessive for a diesel. Preferably a company that has a beter understanding of 4WD vehicles and accessories that i consider to be necessary additions rather than laughable toys.

Any feedback would be great, I have everything insured with NRMA, but i think its time to change....
Not happy Jan !!!!

That's one thing that I can't complain about with the Jackaroo Monterey.

My insurance renewal came in at $875 this year, $2 dearer than last year. However the value dropped from $42k to $39k for a 2000 Monterey, which is about correct.

The bonus was that because my vehicle came off lease, and I decided to keep it, I then got a $125 refund for the reduction in premium as a result of their being no finance on the vehicle. So the premium is actually $750. I'm insured with NRMA and happy with them, so far.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a genuine 4WD insurer these days.

i have an RV prado 2000 and even when i bought it new the comprehensive was $472 and yes they cover me off road if on a gazetted road (which covers a lot of offroad places in Qld) and they don't care what gadgets i put on but they attribute points to a maximum level or something so when i put on bigger wheels and a suspension upgrade and lift they said they didn't care what i did just where the points were at and apparently i have quite a few left.

They have another through "UNIQUE" car insurance is the company, that was $750 for same. BUT... you MUST have a black wired car alarm fitted... Talking to alarm fitter today, they are a bleep fight, if something goes wrong, and you are in middle of nowhere, there is STUFF all chance of fixing the issue!

Got my renewal from TCIS, using Allianz, currently renewal says $27,751 MARKET value, and $658 to insure. Bitbleepoff, it runs out 2/1/03, not much notice this time of year is it....?

So searching the archives, I got a few #'s.

Just called JUST CAR INSURANCE.

Offroad Excess of $1800! + the Normal Excess of $900, so if you crash you have to pay $2700 before you get repairs? What crack they smoking? Thats with Rating 1, and the quote was nothing special. Their "Agreed" value was pathetic. Also their AGREED value was $14,000!

Other option from TCIS was UNIQUE car Insurance. Agreed Value $25,000 and $718.98.... You also need a FULL BLACK wired car alarm or immobilizer. The alarm is $600+ and chances of getting fitted in time are 0.

Called the Aust 4wd insurance, but got answering machine. So Emailed that sdavidson@dgaininsurance.com.au I got her mail from another thread, now waiting. Tried their online application form, but not enough room for accessories and mods I have, so wait and see...

Remember theres cheap insurance, and CHEAP insurance.. You want them to be around, and payup when you need it.. Stick with main stream ones, may cost $50more, but the point of insurance is to get paid if you need it.

95 GQ Patrol - 275,000 km - lots of accessories and several mods - agreed value $26500 - for only $350/year.
