Gday groovers
I (read the hand that rocks the cradle) am planning on visiting one or more theme park with the family in the new year, and wondered if anyone has some tips on good accomodation close by? We (the 5 of us) are looking for a self contained cabin or similar.
A friend stayed at a van park in Helensvale? but i cant find it on the net anywhere.
Any other suggestions welcome (other than staying away-that would cause a devorse)

Hi Dozer.
My son and his nippers stayed at the Gateway Village Resort when he was up that way earlier this year. Reckoned it was a top spot. Its about halfway between the parks and Brissy. A Big 4 place and like a lot of other places has discount Theme park deals. give em a buzz on 1800442444 or check em out on www.gatewayvillage.com.au

Dozer,
We stayed at Treasure Island Caravan Park in a very comfortable cabin, the park had a great pool with video supervision for the parents (just sit in the cabin, turn on the teev and watch whats happening - and watch the kids faces when you know EXACTLY what they did when they were there), its a 2 min walk from Harbourtown shoppign centre, the cut price mecca on the Gold Coast, cheap outlet shops for lots of big brands. The park has childrens activities and a place to eat also and is up the North end of the gold coast a mere 10 mins from the theme parks

take a look here

Thanks Bonz
Will give them a call and see if they can fit us in. Seems to be a popular destination....if all else fails, it will be hook the van on the back and cruise on up.

Dozer, I may be too late in replying to this --- if you do plan to stay at Treasure Is make sure that you are some distance from the swimming pool. The noise that kids make going down the hydroslide has to heard to be believed. There are cabins and campsites very close to the pool and they do cop the noise. Regards G.T.

Hey Dozer!!! Hows things down home???

We are currently in Eight Mile Plains at the Brisbane Holiday Village (formally Dress Circle) and they have some great new cabins with everything you could need.

Gateway Village as mentioned earlier down the road at Rochdale looks OK too.

Guess it depends on whether you would rather be closer to the Gold Coast or Brissy. My pick would be Brissy as you are then closer to Stradbroke, Bribie and Moreton Islands too!!!!!

From where I am it would be a 20 - 30 min run down the Pacific Mwy to most of the parks.

Anyway thats my 2 bob worth. Hope you are well and thanks again for your help!!
