I would like to purchase and install driving lights for my Pajero NM. I will only be going off-road about 1 per month, with maybe 2 - 2week treks a year. Most of the driving will be during the day, but for extra security I want to fit Driving lights, can anyone recommend something suitable ?

Also Self-Installation looks simple, except for connecting the lights to the High Beam - does anyone have any experience wit the Pajero NM and can tell how it is done. ?

I'm not trying to be funny but if you have to ask then spend $40 and get an auto-Elect. to terminate the wires for you. Otherwise you simply identify and splice into the high beam wire and this goes to the relay via a seperate switch and this is then your activation wire. The relay has numbers, 30 for the battery 86 and 87 for the earth and activation wire. holding the relay with the 30 post closest to you the earth and activation wires are to the left and right and the feed for the lights are straight up. I'm too lazy to look for a diagram but you should be able to work it out.

DCPAus,
its OK. You don't have to justify your acquisition to us. We understand. Sure you only go bush once a year, and then only drive by day, but we agree 'extra security' makes a lot of sense (and certainly a good argument when asking the boss for the money) :-)
Seriously though, I don't know how good the NMs lights are, but a cheaper/easier alternative is to buy the replacement Phillips globes that are 1.5 times as bright. A pair of H4s cost less than $50. Mind you, looking at the car when they're installed you don't get the same thrill as looking at a pair of flame throwers mounted on the bar. Not as tempting to thieves either, and they wont get smashed in a car park before you've even used them in the bush.Bob

Not sure about the wiring instructions above
At least some Pajero lights are "earth switched" - hence wiring to light is actually alive at all times - check

Upgrading the globes in the headlights sounds like a good idea. Anyone been flashed because they are too bright.

Had Hella Rallye 1000's pencils installed on the nudge bar when I bought the vehicle. Would go one wide beam one pencil next time. Spots look difficult to mount on the plastic bumper bar. Have a look at the comparison in the latest 4WD Monthly for choice.

Have installed spots myself in a previous vehicle just by following the wiring diagram that came with the lights.

In my Mits Triton TD with rectangular h/ls I replaced them with a pair of Cibie headlights. Same globe but better beam & lights. Next step could be higher power globes & wiring/relay.
Cost about $80+ each.
