I'm hoping that some computer intelligent type person will be able to help me. Here goes! What I'm after is some wireless earphones that can be used in the car for when the kids have had enough of "I Spy" and reading and etc (also for when the hubby and I have had enough of them and want a little peace!) for our trip around Australia. We have a laptop that we use as a DVD but because we have 3 chn the cords to the current earphones get tangled and pulled out and tripped over. Sooooo I wondered if anyone had heard of a supplier for wireless earphones in Australia. I've looked up all the usual sites dse, jaycar etc. Please keep to positive replies- thanks

Try looking up wireless headphones at Ebay.
Pay no attention to overseas sellers as if they have a good rating purchases are no problem and delivery is usually around 7 days from overseas.
make sure it is the type that has a little transmitter device that plugs in to the headphone jack. other types are infra red.
You will be able to find out more from those a little better aquainted with these items. Hope that helped a little.

Thanks for your reply-I'll check them out. Haven't bought anything via ebay before but I have read plenty of people on this site rave about it- I guess it's the old thing of not actually being able to physically look at the thing before you purchase it! But that said I'll give it a whirl-thanks

G'day Liz,
Jaycar Electronics also carry these, though a bit pricey at around $110 a set. Click here.

Thanks for your response. We actually looked at these at DSmiths on Saturday but didn't think they would be suitable for the laptop in the car. The assistant didn't know either.

Liz,in my Jackaroo the kids use wirelesshead phones for the dvd. It is very good as we can still listen to the radio etc as the tribe watch movies.one thing we found is the particular headphones we use are also fm/am radios so have to be tuned onto the dvd. This is not hard but i have had to tape the tuning dial because every time they are put away or left on the
seat the station is changed as the dial is moved.
The head phones have batteries as does the small transmitter (although I have connected this to the car power source. These were bought from Stathfield for $110.00 a pair (this company is not my favourite to deal with) these units can easily be used on your home t.v or dvd as an extra bonus.terryfied ? yep, lets do it again

Thanks this sounds like the ticket- I knew someone would know! Now I know that certain parts of the trip will be a lot more bearable with bribes being more win win for all parties concerned!

Liz,
I have just setup a PS2 in the car so the kids can watch dvd and play games. The Wireless head phones I used were from JB Hifi (
melbourne) at about $`170 for the sender and 2 pairs of headphones. The headphones run off AAA batteries and the sender is hardwired in the TV system which I'v e got wired from a switch in the o'head console and where i've also mounted the screen. The PS2 and invertor are mounted on a homemade shelf from the Cargo barrier between the rear headrests. Wiring runs behind the interior panelling and the whoole runs fantastic. I've mounted the PS2 so that it can be removed easily from prying eyes and we just throw a jacket over it when entering towns for a stop. The screen folds up and is not immediately visible.
Btw the brand of the headphones I am unsure of. (they have of model of IR538)
Regards Andrew
If you have questions, I won't be back in front of a computer for a while as we are road testing the system!!!!

Liz , I was at D/ smiths on the weekend looking for the same thing , the only problem with there set up is that it needs 240V to work , I ended up gettind a exyention cable and fitting it under the carpet with a head phone spliter , I just leave the head phones on the head rest , so all the wires are behind there
seat , no more tangles or triping on wires
