Hi guy's,
Justa quick note to ask if any of you guys know of a good place to purchase a couple of water tanks the big ones for a 5 acre property just outside of kilcoy I have brought for a weekend. The reason is it has no town water, but does have power and phone line connections, and unreal view. I'm looking a purchasing around about a 20,000Ltre and a 10,000ltre one if possible. I'm also looking a getting a mobile home, or 20ft caravan with shower/toilet stove etc to take up there. It is on the top of the range, so has to be in resonable condition to get it there in the first place. I am from the brisbane area, but am willing to travel say 4 - 5 hours any direction if anybody out there can help. Thanks, had to change the 4WD advise today, now a real place to take my 4WD and closer to Landcruiser mountain - (Might see you guy's there one day). Anybody out there who knows somebody, or a good place to look please get back to me.

Murfa,
Try looking on the net for companies such as Bushman, Tankworld, etc, under Poly Tanks in your search engine, you will find most will deliver larger tanks for free depending on exactly where you are. Several companies manufacture in Queensland so should not be a problem, do some price shopping first though.

Murfa,
Forgot to add, buy the biggest tank you can afford, always better to have too much rather than too little, carting water or paying for cartage costs a lot more in the long term, its better to catch all you can during those Queensland downpours.

We bought ours and had them delivered from a tank factory in Kilcoy, maybe checkout the local yellow pages. If after a caravan advertise in the Queensland Trading Post paper,or there maybe a free advertising booklet around, you are bound to find anything you need.

Buy a copy of Queensland Country life, it generally has at least 4-5 companies advertising tanks and some modular/mobile homes.

Murfa,

Make sure you get a poly tank, though don't think anyone makes fibreglass anymore. The makes mentioned above should all deliver to you, they bring them out to us and we are over 1,600 k's from Brissy.

Try Glendale Homes (Caboolture) or Halley Homes (Rothwell), for small demountable buildings. Might be a cheaper option in long term, and lot more comfortable. They deliver too.

With the poly tanks, make sure you set up the tank, as per makers directions. Also use a short length of flexible pipe to join tank to your water system. And no, poly pipe isn't flexible enough.

Just need some rain to fill them now,

Hooroo...

Just wondering how you were going to fill them.

You are going to need a shed or house roof to catch the water. A 20ft caravan aint going to do it. Unless you are going to pay to get water carted which can be an expensive exercise.

Hi Murfa,
as Mikell wrote before, a 20ft Caravan will not be able to fill a tank from runoff water. Its too low to start with. A valid option would be a tank with a self collecting roof as sold by Complas Industries in Bundaberg.
Have a look at their website:
www.complas.com.au

Have a great new year and lots of fun on your new property!

Had a look at their website. Might be enough if you were using the place as a weekender as suggested but i doubt it. Its still a very small catchment area.
Dont know a lot about Queensland weather but here in Vic I wouldnt want to be relying on this small catchment to supply me with drinking, shower and washing water - even if it was for weekends only. If you get regular rains throughout the year to keep topping the tank up it might be enough, otherwise i think you may be dissapointed. Seems to me to be a good supplement catchment - nothing more.

Murfa,

There is a company in Alstonville or Wollongbar, in northern NSW, between Ballina and Lismore. He has been in the industry for about 20yrs now and I know he would deliver. Can't think of the phone number but the company name is AJay Tanks.

Worth a lokk in the white pages online.

Duncs.
