Thought I would post this for those who have the same delema as myself.

After tossing out the old lap top bracket , i went on a mission today to get a system that works , i hunted hi and low and almost gave up . I walked into a boating shop to pick up some supplies for tomorrows trip and mentioned my delema . I almost fell over when he mentioned that he had what I was looking for .it was just the just perfect setup, they are called RAM brackets from the states , they are used for mounting large GPS units in boats also for laptops , its a simple bracket with 2 balls either end , and can swivel in any direction possible , one you tighten the clamp , even he man couldnt budge it . I must say its the best system I have had so far, it moves back enough for the kids to watch movies and can fold up out of the way when not in use . If you like you can remove most of it with just leaving one ball mount , you can also rotate it 180 and push it forward so driver or passanger can use it . The whole unit looks very nifty .

Hope this helps anyone who had the same problem Venus Bay

Here is a link to a RAM bracket, not too sure how it would hold up at the bottom of a big wooops or if I would like it flailing around in a roll over.

Eric, have had a look at the pages suggested and looks really interesting and will have to have a look at some better pics I think than are online. I thought the desk suggestions are too rigid in the cramped space of a cab like my GU tray topper. Not many navigators will want to nurse laptops around for long.

Really interested in the post, thanks.Regards

thanks for all the info guys , I must say , I think I have nailed it with my set up . i will post some pic's when I get back from the trip . Took it on a test run today and loved it . Very easy to move around to any possi , and no messy brackets , there is a arm that bolted to the back of the console and this alows it to move anywere I need . I did have to re enforce the console since the plastic wouldnt hold the weight .

cheers guys and a happy new year to all .

One more sleep and Sraddy here we come lol Venus Bay
