Hi , I live in gloucester nsw and want to drive to the tip of cape york in 2013 or 2014 for the first time. i want to go with a group or tag along tour could, someone point me in the right direction please.I do not have a 4wd club in my town. p.s i am a motor mechanic with 22 years experience.

Manning Valley-Great Lakes 4x4 Club is a great bunch of people with a wealth of experience (ps I'm a long distance member). Members range from Old Bar, Taree, Wingham, Nabiac and all points.

Hi Adam,

I was in the same spot you are now a little over 12 months ago. Forget the tag along option - as suggested, post up here and other forums your intentions, you're bound to find someone going.

I'm heading up the last week of May this year with a bunch of guys out of Melbourne which I hooked up with through the 4x4Earth Forum. It's been 12 months in the planning and almost time to go. Trip is being led by a chap who will call this trip #6, so a bit of experience up front ensures us a great trip.

Hope you find something similar.

Hi Adam,

I'm sure with 22 years as a mechanic you will be welcome in any crew, unfortunately there is a 200m walk to get to the very tip of Cape York.

It's a pretty laid back place with plenty of Roadhouses along the way, so if you have a swag you can camp.

I was planning to go year, but that is probably out now.
So looking at also going in 2013, maybe as suggested we could put up a expression of interest

Hi neil , ad here i am now committed for the first 2 weeks in may 2013 to go up for quick trip, i just joined manning valley great lakes 4x4 club this week so i have to ask for info from members and maybe plan a trip with some of them or plan one though oz explore .expression interest sounds good, i still waiting if my bro is coming with me.i will get back soon if i post a gathering on line month or two. thanks adam
