When I did the Simpson Desert crossing in 2010 one chap was running across the desert then, he was doing 42ks per day all for raising money for breast cancer foundation.
The disturbing part was he ran past us 3 times during our time driving across.

I followed Jane into Birdsville on Tuesday after crossing the Simpson.

It was a great effort considering it was over 40 degrees for the first days of her run.

Had a chat to her later in the pub and would never have guessed she had just run across the Simpson, she was full of beans and a bit of a character. I was surprised to hear on the radio the next morning that she was in her 50's

Got me beat how she got up some of the dunes on the French Line.

We were also lucky enough to be in Birdsville when Jane arrived, sitting outside enjoying a cold beer. She looked in good ednough condition to turn around and do a reverse crossing.
Had a great meal in the pub that night too after just completing a crossing of Madigans Line.
