Review: Outback - The Discovery of Australia's Interior

My Shop Item Rating: My Rating 5/5

This book is a wonderful introduction to European exploration of Australia starting from the 1600's and working chronologically through to the late 1800's. The language is simple, easy to read, and includes passages taken from the diaries and journals of explorers including Eyre, Sturt, Leichhardt, Giles and many others written as they traversed the outback mostly in conditions of extreme hardship. In addition there are maps of the expeditions.
It is small enough to pack in the car or van and could be a useful reference to travellers as they explore the country. I highly recommend it.
Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt. John Muir
