You do not give enough info on the route you intend to take, so taking a guess.

Stay a night at Dubbo and take the kids and yourself to the Old Dubbo jail plus the Zoo. If you have bikes there is the Tracker Riley bike path to explore on the way to the Zoo.

Stop at Nyngan , there is parking alongside a shop then get a pie and savor the place.

Stop overnight at Byrock and have a look At the cemetery and you will be surprised also do the walk that is from the van park at the back of the pub.
Have a few ales and perhaps a feed at the pub and get all the info on the place.
Take a golf club 5 Iron and putter and play the royal Byrock golf course.

On the way from Byrock to Bourke there is an explorers monument to have a look at.

In Bourke take a ride on the Jandra then go to the tourist info get a key and have a look at mount Oxley well worth the visit.

Just a couple of suggestions.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.
