anyone travelled towards wombeyan caves through mittagong lately? heading that way in a week or so.

Made the mistake once not checking and was very lucky to make it driving a 2wd with deep ruts through muddy clay.

I'd check with the local council as it was closed for a while due to landslides recently and there was no access at all from Mittagong for some time. It is still raining!

Depending on where your starting from the road from goulburne is much better than the road from mittagong.

Hi rcam, We've been in and out both ways, the Goulburn side is very much easier infact . But the eastern route is a very winding road with slow switch back corners and some washouts. Take your time and enjoy the view ! And as said check out the road conditions

yeah Its been about 3 years since I've been through the dirt road via mittagong but I've gone through it countless times, awsome road. Gets abit hairy on weekends when you get the tourists hooning through there.

Was down that way over the easter long weekend we travelled from Mittagong through to the caves and the road is clear, you can see where the two recent slides were - but they have been cleaned up.

Deffinatley use causion on the road around there, some people just dont seem to have common sense - twice we came accross cars that would have ended up down the side had we been stupid enough to be travelling as fast as them around blind corners. When going around the blind corners please BEEP and if you hear a beep then answer back with a BEEP, move over and slow down - its just common sense.

Yeah, i think there a signs saying to beep on blind corners, sadly I think the maniacs probably run around with the sterio on full blast or something.
