We are planning a Qld trip in winter, and are wondering about camping at Hann Crossing. We were there in 1998 on the way to Cape York, in a Landcruiser with a tent. We now have a 200series LC and a Track Trailer Topaz, which is a small robust off-road van, or could it be classed as a "crossover"? Qld NP website says that roads in Lakefield are not suitable for caravans. Has anyone towed anything similar to a Topaz through Lakefield? We feel sure it would be fine but wonder if we would be turned back.

Hi

I would hardly class a Topaz as a normal caravan. You would not have any problems at all taking a Topaz to Hann Crossing, especially behind a 200 series.
There are some good sites there.

I think with that rig, and armed with common sense , you could go where ever you felt comfortable.

Enjoy your trip

We did this trip in 2007 with an Aussie swag and a 4.2TD intercooled Patrol 2004, and had no trouble at all.The weight of Aussie swag, loaded was about 1500 Kgs.
Just take things slowly and enjoy the trip.
The Topaz has a narrow width and is not to heavy, so have fun.
