We are heading north again very soon and wondering if we have to contend with the plagues of last year?

They were pretty bad around the centre last yr weren't they. We had mice running up the canvas walls and across the roof... none inside the camper/trailer thank god.

Hi
Dont worry about it - just do it. The trip will be more fun than a mouse or two could ruin. I suspect many of the previous tales related to the "plague" exagerate the actual issue for one reason or another.
Cheers

What? Two wires:) That's it !! I'm never going "outback" again. Way too scary with all those mice and rats running about. This thread should be linked to equinox's thread :)
Cheers

I can promise you Greg that nothing you would have heard could have exaggerated the plague out there last year! But you're right - you shouldn't let it ruin your trip! We just kept our zips on our tent done up and never had a problem inside the tent!

Just came back from uluru,
kings canyon, alice,
oodnadatta track and a few others. Didn't see one rat. A few mice in uluru but nothing to fret about. No mice anywhere else.
Last year it was nuts with them.

We went up through
Tibooburra, Cameron's,
Innamincka,
Birdsville,
Boulia etc to the Gulf in July-August and saw only one rat at a dry creek when we stopped for a cuppa between
Birdsville and
Boulia. We camped and used cabins on the way. No hassles.
Go for it.

We had a few holes in the tent but were easily patched with duct tape.

We had a plague of rats at the bottom of the Selwyn Ranges last year but there have been none this year.
Guess we were lucky. When we went through
Birdsville to
Marree up to Lake
Eyre and down to The Flinders then up to
Innamincka we only saw one rat (water rat) and no mice.
Not even the two legged kind.
RA.
