Evening All,
Thanks to those who replied to my last post, have added follow-ups to these. Have decided to go down the XBOX in car route, does anyone have experience in mounting these or PS-2 in-car and how do they work while on the move, any help appreciated

Yup..

Did a PS2 in car for a friend who ownes a wannabe 4x4 (a 99 Explorer!).

It worked sortof ok on smooth highway, but any bumps and such caused the DVD's to skip. At one point on the Hume, the disc became scratched due to the bumps over roadwork!

I'd go the under-seat changer or centre-console style units, you can get them cheap at Straths and they work without problems.

Chrisfrd,
Thanks, may look at one of these as a shoft term measure while sorting out an improved system, it's a pain waiting for the prices to come down though,

Yeah.. You could go nuts and put an Alpine/Kenwood/Pioneer single or 3 disc unit indash, but then you would be up for over $1200 and would still need to buy a screen unit for the rear. I've seen the no-name brand roof mounted units, that would be nice for my Patrol, for around the $450 mark, with a 16:9 screen about 30cm. Can't remember where though.......

I wouldn't mind one for the kids, but going bush with that stuff, the dust is going to be the killer.

Chrisfrd,
I bit the bullet with the screen and searched through EBAY, had one sent out from Hong Kong, it is a 5/6" with built in TV tuner and two games which are played via a remote control that come with the unit. For $150 landed to my front door I thought it was worth taking the risk when compared to $499 which is the cheapest I have seen from JAYCAR. The unit arrived within 2 weeks of paying, (including the XMAS break) and works fine. They have a drop down screen (7")that I wish I had seen earlier for $US180 landed to your door. If interested, the web site is at www.ssl-hk.com/index_online.html.
Not the quality you mentioned, but not the price either.
