The wife and i have always purchased our vehicles and machines to-gether,and its always been a instant discision between us yes or no!!

I've often pondered over something for a while only to see her sitting in the car reading a book, not a bit interested..lol.,Some of our vehicle purchases have had us with something that has had a few faults stick their head up early,
Five years later the same fault is still there and the vehicle has not let us down in any major way, I've often made the comment to the wife that the noise in this or that is going to let us down,.. She turns a blind eye and says" Its got a soul"

Cheers Axle.

I think I know where you are coming from.

We have had the Rodeo now for 8 years. To put that into perspective my 2 boys are 9 and 7 years old. Neither of them can ever remember us not owning it

Over the years I have spent more money modifying it and repairing it than anyone thinking rationally would. But it is a member of the family.

In return it has taken us as a family to many beautiful places including the Red Centre, The Simpson and countless other holidays over the years and many excursions into the high country. It's also the daily run about, gets the kids to school, does the shopping.

Even the family dog loves it. He always runs to jump in the back in the hope a trip to the beach is on the cards.

Every scratch or dint has a story. It holds the stories of all our family holidays and activities. To me there is nothing else like it. I don't know that I could bring myself to selling it.

Last week I had a cold. While advising my wife about my imminent demise I told her that she is not allowed to sell the Rodeo in the event of my passing. Instead if she chooses not to drive it I said she could have it mounted as a memorial.

So does it have a soul? Maybe not, but to us our old Rodeo is special to our family and hopefully will be with us for years to come.

Geoff

Must had.
When I treat my car nice and gentle, look after it, wash it etc, it treats me real good.

When I neglect it, well, it can be a real B.

I get attached to our vehicles, we have a 1993 Falcon which Hubby bought me back then for Mothers Day, it has clocked up 400,0000ks and only had the head gasket changed about 10,000ks ago, it has taken us lots of places, even a 4wd only track, a short cut through to Ceduna from Coober Pedy, ever since we've had it it's had a bit of a whine noise coming from the diff, we don't notice it but people with mechanical ability have got into the car and insisted a wheel bearing had gone, that's when it was only a baby, it's still going strong. We have a name for our car and it seems to be part of the family, we still use it and it's still going strong up to this point in time. Love My Car..... Not sure if it's got soul but it must have a very friendly Gremlin in the diff somewhere. LOL

Cheers

My manual 4800 Patrol definately had a soul Axle - its was killed recently , I hope to get time to write it up , if I do one may , when considering all the circumstances, that it actually committed suicide in protest over its change in lifestyle.

Ohh no Robin, what happened, I remember your tale of the 'change of lifestyle' that had befallen that vehicle, I'm assuming it's the same one your talking about.

Cheers

G'day Robin,

They were young and uncaring about the car - you had apprehensions if I recall! Sounds like they were well founded. Hope you're not hinting they can buy the auto as a replacement?

Kind regards

Anyone who owns a Landrover always has a vehicle with "SOUL" but unfortunately they often turn into Ass oles with very little provocation.

Bit like my missus at times.

Now I REALLY duck for cover.

Disco.
