Hi
We are heading into western and Central Qld in July-August and are looking for interesting and different
places to visit and things to do. To put this in perspective, we have travelled through there at various time and covered a fair bit of territory:
Birdsville,
Longreach,
Lawn Hill, Charlieville,
Boulia etc. We would appreciate ideas on;
Out of the way
places that perhaps don't get lit up in the highlights in brochures
Farm camping options, I have found these better than many National parks in NSW
Unusual and quirky outback towns
Also, we were thinking of going to
Carnarvon National park but the website says it was badly damaged in the recent floods. Anyone been these recently and what's the likely outlook for August.
Finally, I know the mining boom is making accommodation hard to find. What's the situation in caravan parks in central Qld?
Any ideas appreciated

Hi,
places we have found interesting-
Crawnpore
lookout- between
Middleton and
Boulia. Free roadside
campsite just near there- sunset and sunrise 360 degree- amazing area with lots of jumpups.
Larks Quarry definitly worth a look
