Burra Showgrounds is cheap, but still costs $ and there are few level spots (whole place is on a gentle slope). Redbanks Cons. Pk is about 15k out, free I think, but be wary of rain. Burra Gorge free camp is about 20k out but quite nice - rain not a real issue there.......Redbanks and Burra gorge only have long drop toilets - no other facilities.

We stayed at Burra Creek Gorge and found it a pleasant bush camp - pit toilets only. This suited us better than staying in town. It was however the only place where we have ever been disturbed at night. Someone in a ute drove in around 1 am and kick dust doing some circlework between us at the entrance end and a tenter at the far end. It woke me, but not my husband. He did not come near us and left after fifteen or twenty minutes or so. I have not heard of any repetition of this happening from any other campers who have stayed there, so was probably a one-off event.

Ditto for Burra Gorge, fires permitted but wood is very scarce.
