Hi All
Does anyone know about the supposed closure of the ABH from 20th August to
2nd September. We were planning a trip across here at this time. But our permit to travel has been rejected. Any input welcome.
Thanks

Hi Ted
You have me very intrigued????
Which one of the 5 required permits has been rejected.
We are out along some of the Anne Beadell at those same dates as
well. The sections that we will be along only requires 2 permits and I have one back already and the other one that can take up to 6 weeks....
well I will have to see.
What part is supposed to be closed????
Awaiting on your reply.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Steven
The permit was to travel from
Coober Pedy to Vokes
Hill apparetnly the Air force? are running some sort of exercise from 20th Aug to 2nd Sept. They say it will be gated at each end of this section according to the AAWoomera on phone 08 867 4211?

Hi Ted
I must have luck on my side. I have just checked my permit, and my stated dates for travelling through the
Woomera Section was the 18 to the 20 and it was approved.
Cheers
Stephen

The permit I have from Defence (free and only took a couple of days) for ABH last week mentions 'exclusion periods' and tells you to go to a Defence web site for more details
http://www.defence.gov.au/woomera/exclusionperiods.htm. The site has a map and the dates the ABH will be closed.
When I spoke with the Defence people at
Woomera they were very helpful and explained that the exclusions are for safety reasons. They also said that they have patrols throughout the
Woomera area and they
check permits. I think the five minutes of paperwork for a permit is better than a fine. Particularly if it stops them from dropping something on us.
