Does anyone know anything about the road that runs from near Kalkarindji on the
Buntine Hwy in the north, through Lajamanu to near the Tanami
Mine on the
Tanami.
I have been asked about this track and thought it might be closed around
the Tanami Track area because of the gold
mine

It is all good. The road is open from the Buntine through Laj onto the Tanami. Reasonable dirt all the way.

We towed our van down that track in 2010, so I'm no good for current conditions, but then it was an excellent run.
We got fuel and some goodies at the
shop at Lajamanu. Kalkarindji was very quiet as some "sorry time" was happening.
I reckon the only thing that would slow you down would be rain, so
check up first of course.

Sorry, I got those place names around the wrong way.
Our route was Top Springs, Kalkarindji (fuel,
shop), Lajamanu, Tanami Track.
