Hi, I really like this site I am planning a big solo bike ride this August

I would like to purchase a SPOT 2 from your shop. $229

However I have found the same Spot 2 Messenger on another Australian website for $181

Here is the link. http://www.affinity-one.com.au/store.php?crn=246

Can ExplorOZ match affinity-one's price??

Hi

Affinity price is actually $199 (you have to add GST). Also are there any postage costs?

Cheers

...also you may (or may not) be better off emailing your question to

info@exploroz.com

so as to get a more prompt response.

Cheers

Yes you are right $30 isn't going to break the piggy bank but it is another tank of fuel. Motorbikes have to be good for something.

The silly thing is I am now looking at that inReach 2-Way Satellite Communicator from DeLorme. It will probably prove more expensive but more reliable ????

Peter,

If your carrying a smart phone, get the spot connect. The messenger is limited. The connect does everything the messenger does, smaller, lighter but also sends emails. your phone only needs to be on to compile the texts.

i regularly ride remote solo - the ideal combination would be the Garmin edge GPS talk to the Spot connect - im guessing we will have to wait for this sort of combo.

enjoy

I think I am going to put all these communicating and tracking devices in the 'nice but not essential basket' and get myself a PLB (personal locator beacon) and hope I never use it.

Peter,

ExplorOz members price is $217.55 with free delivery compared to $229.00

Like others I believe this should have been an email to info@exploroz.com the open forum is not a place for barter.

The Affinity company specialises in tracking and security of trucks and fleets, while ExplorOz is providing a service and a mass of differing products and FREE information to the tourer and traveller.

For $217.55 you would also receive 1 year fee membership renewal (valued at $49.95) of this fantastic forum, plus all the additional discounts available in the shop.

So in reality you would be buying the SPOT 2 for $179.05..... Now ask Affinity if they can match that!

Thanks Tony,

You point is really valid I should have sent my enquiry to the info@ExplorOZ email. I was a bit naughty with this post. I have received some very good responses from some very loyal ExplorOZ members. Initially I thought the price difference was around $50 so I asked the question. I was put straight very quickly. Great site, masses of faluable info, very active community, well worth supporting with a membership and a few extra bucks here or there.

Go for the 'original' SPOT. Far less hassles and heaps longer battery life.
There were issues with SPOT 2 for a while !!!
