Drysdale River Station
Hi All,
In case anyone is interested, the
Kalumburu Road is open to the
Mitchell Plateau turn off and then the MP track is open all the way to
Mitchell Falls.
The DEC
camp at
King Edward River is open as is the
Mitchell Falls National Park.
There are still a few wet patches along the road and a nasty deep wash out about 34 km North of Drysdale. It does have markers and there is a detour around it.
The approach to The King Edward crossing washed away but a track has been made to allow vehicles to get through.
The road has been graded from
the junction of the
Kalumburu Road and the
Gibb River Road up to the
Mitchell plateau track ( called in SWEK road report the Port Warrender road) turn off.
The
grader is presently working North between
the junction of the
Kalumburu Road and
Mitchell Plateau Track up past Theda and towards
Kalumburu, fixing washouts and making the road safer.
The Shire will likely open this last section to
Kalumburu when this is done. A rough estimate might be in the next week or so,
check SWEK road report next week if want to know exactly.
cheers, Anne

Thanks for the update Anne. Please excuse my ignorance, but what does SWEK (road report) stand for?

Hi,
Sorry so used to doing it didn't think, it's the Shire of
Wyndham East
Kimberley.
The
Gibb River Road is Main roads, hence you need their web site for info on that road.
The
Kalumburu Road and MP Track ( Port Warrender Road ) are SWEK and you need their web site and download a PDF road report.
cheers
