Captain
Full marks for running tales of our early
explorers.
The Duyfken actually made landfall on the WESTERN side of
Cape York, probably somewhere close to the Pennefather River, although a tourist style Cairn has been erected at what is now Duyfken Point (about 30 km south of the Pennefather).
This is only about 30 km from
Weipa by boat, but a little over 100 km by road (last 30 km down the beach).
