Image Could Not Be FoundG'day, does anybody know what the item in the picture does. It was in the bottom of my original sub tank, Nissan Patrol 2004 4.2 TD, it was not attached to anything and has no connections etc. Was found when installing new long range tank. No mention of this in the instructions with the tank and installer has never seen one before. He is making enquires to the tank manufacturer, but thought I would ask the knowledgeable forumites what they think it is. Thanks in advance.

If it's got no wires going to it it maybe a venturi pump.

Is it a swirl cup, most fuel injected vehicles have some sort of swirl cup in the main tank where the surplus or bypassed fuel returns to the tank adjacent to the fuel pickup, the warm returning fuel is then swirled with cold fuel in the fuel tank.

Not completely sure of the reason why.

If its in the bottom of an aux tank that does not directly connect to main fuel system it may not be used.

cheers

Thanks, have found out that it is a relic of the petrol version and is not used on the diesel versions. John
