Hitting the road in July

We are off to Ayers Rock from Langwarrin Vic and we are heading up the Oodnadatta track, to the pink road house and wilpena pound etc is there any sites or slightly off the beaten track stuff anyone can recommend we have a look at - going to coward springs which I am looking forward to and will be in Alice for the camel cup which should also be fun. Look forward to hear from anyone who has done this trip and has any suggestions.

thanks

Painted Desert towards Sunset (near Oodnadatta) on Arckaringa (spelling?) station, which is a good place to stay.
Do a search on this web site under "Places", there is plenty of information.
It is between Oodnadatta & Coober Pedy pedy. Just off the same road and neraer to CP The Breakaways, a Lunar landscape northfor the amazing coloured lunar landscape formations.

Its hardly "slightly off the beaten track" and its probably in your plan, but don't miss the drive down to the edge of Lake Eyre (off the Oodnadatta just short of William Creek Pub) bit rough down near the lake but well worth it.
A meal at the William Creek Pub wont disappoint and a flight over the Lake (book over the road from the pub) is a must do.
