The book is a great overview of gold prospecting in Australia. Yes, a bit pricey, but a lot of info and good maps. A great starting point for Gold detecting.

For succsful gold detecting you need the right gear which is expensive, a bucket load of skills and a lot of patience.
Having said that it is a great hobby, healthy lifestyle and a gooid reason to go out bush.
